a coating mass per unit area may be converted to a thickness by use of the following factors:
1,coating with chromate: 4.5 g/m2 = 1 μm thickness
2,coating without chromate: 3.8 g/m2 = 1 μm thickness
NOTE 1 - The duration and results of artificial atmosphere corrosion tests, such as neutral salt spray test, may have little relationship to the service life of the coated article and therefore, the results obtained should not be regarded as a direct guide to the corrosion resistance of the tested coatings in all environments where these coatings may be used.
NOTE 2 - It is difficult to validate the results of artificial atmosphere corrosion tests unless appropriate process quality control is carried out.
